Our Two-Part Appointment Process for Minors Under 12
At Primal Decor, we understand that getting a first piercing can be a big moment for both kids and parents. To ensure a smooth, stress-free, and comfortable experience, we use a two-part appointment process for minors under 12.
Step 1: Consultation Appointment

This visit allows your child to meet with our experienced piercers in a calm, no-pressure environment.

This step helps ease any nerves and ensures your child is ready and excited for their piercing.
Step 2: Piercing Appointment

Once your child feels confident, we schedule their actual piercing session.

You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing.

Consent comes first

At Primal Decor, we believe in respecting personal choice and consent—especially when it comes to children’s piercings. If your child changes their mind at any point, we will not proceed with the piercing. We will never force a piercing on anyone.

We also encourage parents to be prepared for any outcome—some children may decide they only want one ear pierced, and that’s okay!

For families who want extra reassurance, we offer tandem piercings (both ears pierced at the same time) for an additional fee. This can be a great option for children who might be nervous but still want both ears done.
What I.D. do I need?
For Minors:

Earlobe Piercings (Ages 5-11): A consultation appointment is mandatory to discuss the procedure and aftercare.

Other Piercings (Ages 12-17): Specific age requirements apply for different piercings.
Required Documentation for Minors:

Original or Certified Birth Certificate: Photocopies or photos are not accepted.

Minor's Photo ID: Acceptable forms include a school ID, yearbook photo, tribal ID, or passport, matching the name on the birth certificate.

Parent/Guardian's Photo ID: To verify legal guardianship.
Note: If both the minor and parent/guardian have state-issued IDs with matching last names and addresses, the birth certificate is not required.
For legal guardians, original guardianship paperwork is necessary. Emancipated minors must provide original emancipation documents along with a state or federally issued ID.
